Two Eclipses – Solar and Lunar Powerful NOTE: this is the 1st Election Day total Lunar Eclipse in US history according to EarthSky.org Because Elections are always held in an even year and they are always on a Tuesday after the first Monday in November that is why the United States has NEVER experienced a Total Lunar Eclipse on election day. Tuesday, November 8, 2022 is the first time and it won’t happen again until November 8, 2394.
If you live in the U.S., or elsewhere in North America, you can see the Full Moon pass through Earth’s dark shadow in the wee hours before sunrise on November 8. Eclipse details:

Penumbral eclipse begins at 3:02 a.m. EST and 12:02 am PST.
Partial eclipse begins 4:09 a.m. EST and 1:09 am PST.
Totality begins (Moon engulfed in Earth’s shadow) begins 5:16 a.m. EST and 2:16 am PST.
Totality ends 6:41 a.m. EST and 3:41 am PST.
Partial eclipse ends 7:49 a.m. EST and 4:49 am PST.
Penumbral eclipse ends 8:56 a.m. EST and 5:56 am PST.
Maximum eclipse is at 5:59 a.m. EST and 2:59 am PST.
Duration of totality: About 85 minutes.
